busy is a state of mind 🙃

Hi Love,

The house was still dark, as I padded into the kitchen. I scanned through my mental list of things I needed to do as we prepped for our weekend road trip.

My mind started moving into a sense of panic as thoughts about how busy next week would be because so much of our typical weekend routine would be thrown off.

My mind slipped into past experiences of weeks we felt rushed with an endless to do list, leaving my kids feeling disconnected and inevitably having more clingy and needy reactions as a way of requesting the connection they crave.

I noticed I was “creating busyness” in my mind before Monday had even rolled around. I paused and took a few deep, calming breaths allowing myself to drop out of my mind and back down into my body….back into this moment.

I could once again feel my feet on the cool tile floor. I became aware of the tea kettle starting to steam and whistle nearby.

Back in THIS moment I once again felt grounded. From this place of presence, I was able to connect with my kids as they woke up. I was able to be more playful and present as we headed out on our weekend adventure instead of being stuck in a busy state of mind.

“Busyness” is a state of mind.

I invite you to pause and ask yourself…

“How can I intentionally step out of busyness today?”

“What would it feel like to drop back into my body and into the present moment?”

“What would my relationships look like if I approached them from a place of presence and connection instead of busyness and distraction?”

I would love what comes up for you as you move through these prompts and practices.

You are loved. ❤️

~ Catherine
